Purposes of Use of Personal Information
Nichiden gathers personal information necessary for carrying out its business, as stated in the “Nichiden’s business” section below. It uses this information for the purposes stated in the “Purposes of use” section below.
In order to conduct our business smoothly, we outsource some of our business functions to third parties. This may involve providing third parties with customers’ personal information so that we can achieve the purposes of use of the personal information. In such cases, we properly supervise these third parties through measures such as signing contracts on the handling of the information.
Nichiden’s Business
All businesses stipulated under Article 2 of Nichiden’s Articles of Incorporation.

- (1) Power transmission equipment and related parts
- (2) Hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, electric automatic control equipment, and related parts and software
- (3) Industrial robots, transportation and loading equipment, and devices
- (4) Metal processing machinery, machine tools, and machinery tools
- (5) Office equipment/tools, packaging machinery, and health equipment
- (6) Rubber, plastic, synthetic resin, and other industrial materials
- (7) Parts/components, attachments, and accessories for the above products
- Design, manufacture, and assembly of the above products, subcontracting and supervision of their installation
- General construction
- Electrical construction
- Piping
- Painting
- Telecommunication
- Waterproofing
- Warehousing
- Non-life insurance agency, life insurance solicitation
- Real estate buying/selling and management, rental and brokering
- Holding and investing of securities
- Worker dispatching
- Buying/selling secondhand products
- Power generation business and its management and operation, provision and sale of electricity, maintenance of electricity-generating facilities
- All work incidental and related to the above businesses
Purposes of Use
- To conclude and execute contracts covering items like the provision of products and services, post-contract management, and after-sales service for products and services provided
- To contact relevant parties when providing products and services, and to ship products
- To use as information related to products and services, and as information for other Nichiden business activities
- To bill and collect fees for products and services, and for credit protection
- To carry out market research and other surveys and research in order to improve our services
- To send giveaways to persons selected in customer reward programs and other campaigns
- To send notifications of seminars and lectures
- To conclude and execute contracts with suppliers, conduct post-contract management, and contact suppliers for other reasons
- To analyze suppliers so that we can provide the best possible products and services
- To carry out various measures aimed at building and maintaining smooth relations with suppliers, and to provide other conveniences to suppliers
- To send notifications of events held by Nichiden and other organizations Nichiden belongs to, and to contact relevant parties regarding such events
- To conduct CSR activities
- To respond to inquiries and opinions sent to Nichiden
- To provide potential and future employees of Nichiden with company information and to contact relevant parties
- To ensure that Nichiden shareholders exercise their rights and obligations based on Japan’s Companies Act and other related laws
- To contact the necessary persons for the purpose of repairing and maintaining facilities, equipment, and machinery, and managing their usage
Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties
In order to abide by laws or to achieve Purpose 1 above in the “Purposes of Use” section, there may be cases in which we consign to a third party some or all of the personal information gathered on an individual in question.
There may also be cases in which personal information is used by persons stipulated as having joint use of personal information under Nichiden’s Personal Information Protection Policy.
Note that personal information on an individual will only be provided to a third party outside Japan if required by law or if the authorization of the individual in question is obtained.

Name, address, phone number, email address, and other items necessary to achieve Purpose 1 above in the “Purposes of Use” section
Notification of Purpose of Use
If individuals in question request that we notify them of the purpose of use of their personal information, we will respond to such requests after confirming that the request is coming from the individual in question (or someone representing them).
However, we cannot notify the individual of some or all of the purposes of use in the following cases: there is a chance of harm to the life, physical health, property, or other rights and interests of the individual or a third party; there is a chance of damage to the rights or legitimate interests of Nichiden; or we are required to cooperate with national government organs or regional public organs as stipulated by law, and it is clear that notification to the individual would impair the conducting of their duties.
Inquiries Regarding Personal Information
Customers can use a specified procedure to request the disclosure of personal information about them that Nichiden holds.
Customers wishing for the disclosure of their personal information should contact the Personal Information Hotline shown below, which will notify them of the procedure for disclosure.
The Personal Information Hotline can also respond to other matters regarding personal information, such as requests from customers to revise, stop using, or erase personal information, or to disclose records on the provision of personal information to third parties.
Nichiden will respond to all such requests in accordance with Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information.
Note that there are cases in which we may not be able to notify the individual of some or all of the purposes of use.
