Nichiden recognizes that properly managing and protecting personal information gathered in conducting its business is an important responsibility. To fulfill this responsibility, the company handles personal information in the following manner in line with its Personal Information Protection Policy.

Compliance with laws

Recognizing that properly managing personal information is part of compliance, we abide by laws related to protecting personal information and the guidelines created by Nichiden’s Personal Information Protection Committee. We also have various in-house rules, such as on handling personal information, with which all the company's directors and employees are made thoroughly familiar.

Control systems

We have created appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorized access to personal information, and to prevent the loss, falsification, and leakage of personal information. In cases in which we consign the handling of personal information to a third party, we have measures necessary for the thorough management and supervision of the third party, including the signing of a contract with that third party that includes measures for securely managing the information. We thoroughly enforce the rules we have made for handling personal information and we constantly improve these rules.

Gathering personal information

When gathering personal information, we will specify its purpose of use and inform the individuals of this beforehand by notification or public announcement. When gathering special care-required personal information (as defined in Paragraph 3, Article 2 of Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information), unless otherwise permitted by law, we will do so only after obtaining the approval of the individuals in question. We also obtain the Internet browsing history linked to personal information. Information gathered in this way is compiled and analyzed so that we can improve convenience for users, understand how they are using the website, and plan and improve the services we offer. This information is used for no other purpose.

Use of personal information

The personal information that we gather is only used within the scope of purpose of use for which the individuals were informed beforehand by notification or public announcement, or within a scope that is determined to be related to the purpose of use. If we plan to change the purpose of use, we will obtain approval of the individuals in question.

Disclosure of personal information to a third party

Unless permitted by law or authorized beforehand by the individuals in question, we will not provide or disclose personal information to a third party. However, information may be provided to third parties (but only in Japan) under the “opt-out method” (as defined in Paragraph 2, Article 23 of Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information).

Joint use of personal information

We will make joint use of personal information in the following ways.

Management of personal information

We will carry out appropriate security measures and properly manage personal information gathered so that it is always accurate and up to date, and to prevent unauthorized access to, loss of, damage to, falsification of, and leakage of personal information.

Notifying purpose of use of personal information; disclosing or revising personal information, or adding or deleting items; ceasing use of personal information; ceasing provision of personal information to third parties; erasing personal information

If we receive a request from individuals in question to notify the purpose of use of their personal information, disclose or revise their personal information, add items to or delete items from it, cease using the personal information, cease providing it to a third party, or erase it, we will respond to such requests after confirming that the request is coming from the individual in question.

We will do our utmost to step up our personal information protection by revising this Personal Information Protection Policy as appropriate.
